Completing the Saturnine box, I painted the Praetor in Saturnine armour. Big fan of this miniature and I wanted to push it a bit.
Red and gold follows my Blood Angels paint recipe, adding some extra highlights and pushing the contrast especially for the gold.
It's a big model, with large areas of red and could be bit bland if left only red, gold and black. I used the opportunity with the massive power axe to go to the opposite side of the colour wheel and make the blade turquoise. I've used a similar scheme with other power weapons in the army, and I quite like it.
I'm not super happy how the black cape turned out. It looks fine on the gaming table, for photos though I would have wanted smoother blending. Perhaps I'll go back to it later.
