About

This website exists to celebrate two passions of mine. Painting miniature toy soldiers and taking photos of the said creations.

The two hobbies share an important trait: permanence. I have miniatures on my shelf I painted in the 1990s, and chances are I will have them for the rest of my life. Same is true for photography, or should be. Finnish language has a word for taking a photograph: “ikuistaa”. It translates to “make forever”. I like it.

Strangely though, we treat our photographs, of miniatures or not, different from the physical creations. Most of us keep our miniatures on a display shelf or in the safety of a carry case for them to come out on the tabletop battlefields to reap glory. For photographs many, including the past me, sign the Terms and Conditions of megalomaniac technology corporations waiving all rights to send off your photographs into the endless engagement stream only for others to maybe see and enjoy them during the next couple of days or weeks if you’re lucky.

This is my website for my miniature photos. There are many like it, but this one is mine. This is my opt-out from handing my content to the tech corporations. Anyone can come to see the photos and read the text posts, any time, for free. You are not allowed to copy them, they are mine. Especially you’re not allowed if you’re the web crawler for generative AI (don’t pretend you didn’t get that).

This website has no commercial purpose. I don’t charge for it, take tips, sell anything nor advertise anything. Just a hobby about the hobbies.

All content and graphics by me, unless otherwise noted.
